Slow down, calm down – stick to the speed limit

Drive slower and stick to the speed limits. Not only will you lower your stress levels and your fuel consumption but, most importantly, you will play your part in making the roads safer.
Traffic is the biggest single killer of 12-16 year olds. Two out of three accidents where people are killed or injured happen on roads where the speed limit is 40mph or less. At 35mph you are twice as likely to kill someone you hit as at 30mph. Enough said.

And of course, with the move towards introducing much tougher penalties for speeding offences it makes sense all round to stick to the speed limit – rather than risk losing your licence altogether.

(Keeping your tyres inflated properly also greatly improves your fuel efficiency.)
